How do we capture and save a potentially significant moment?

I just read this fantastic essay by Damon Brown. He takes a look at why we are obsessed with documenting our lives online and he gives this perfect example from his wedding where he chose to not bring his phone. The funny thing is that his uncle was so excited to watch a recap of what had happened because he had been busy trying to capture the beautiful moments as they were actually happening.

He all in all brings up some interesting thoughts about the subject.

I especially love this extract of the story:

”We want these archives, whether digital or physical, to point back to the very real experience we had, or, just as importantly, to give us insight into someone else’s experience”

Recommend reading the essay!
